This is my personal art-project/challenge for 2013/14 year.

"Granny's Cup", Pastel. Finished.

"Granny's Cup", 8 x 10"
Pastel on La Carte.

Beautiful day today here in PA. I finished this little painting and went
to spend some time with two my horses. My friend's farm is a dream-land.
Some of my very best memories comes from there... Just happy.
Going to put away this little pastel now and see what else can I do...

"Two for You", oil on Gessobord.

"Two for You"
8x8" on Cradled Gessobord.

This one of my "Contemporary" floral paintings done by wet-on-wet method.
Two beautiful lilies joined together in the shiny red vase.  Reference picture for this
photo belongs to "Paint and Draw Together" blog, what I adore... but never can
organize myself to have something ready to submit
in timely manner while they have their challenges open.
This painting is lighter then represented on this photo and has more nuances to it.
Available at Daily Paintworks.
Please check my gallery there, if interested.

"Radiance", oil, finished.

"Radiance", Oil,
11 x 14" on panel.

Finally I had time to get back to this piece and finish it. It is all bight and shiny and so had to dry before I can get any good picture of it. Still... it is finished. And I'm not sure what I'll be up to next.. I have two nice 8x8" cradled Gessobords... Maybe I need to thing what I can do with those...

"Subalpine Meadows", Pastel.

"Subalipine Meadows"
10x8", Pastel on mounted paper
Wallis Belgium Mist

Finished rendering of my latest pastel study.
I have to admit: it IS different, working on toned paper, but
it was interesting process. I especially enjoyed
working on those pine trees in the left.
This also was a test for my new studio pastel-box...
I really need to get used to that one, it is totally new "toy"
and I didn't learn enough about it yet. Need to paint more, I guess.

Mount Rainier meadows, pastel in progress.

Just started another small pastel painting after our summer trip to Washington State.
This work will be done on mounted Belgium Mist Wallis paper
what is naturally toned to warm-gray color. So far I'm done with my pencil sketch
and watercolor underpainting. It is ready for pastel, but so far it is anything, BUT
pastel. It is going to be exiting little painting. can not wait to get back to it tonight!

"Pastels Chicago 2013 " National Juried Exhibition.

Today I was informed that my pastel "By The Creek" was selected for
Pastels Chicago 2013 " Biennial National Juried Exhibition.
I'm not going to fly to Chicago second time for this year, but my art work will!
I'm very honored to be included in this prestigious show
and hope to be able to see works of other entrants what usually are pretty amazing.
"Chicago pastel Painters" have a great web site and always posting online
all accepted art work... therefore I hope I would be able to see it all,
as I would go there in person.
Good reason to have a little celebration.
After all it is my second for pastels only National Show 'of the year!

"Road Less Traveled", Pastel.

"Road Less Traveled", 6x6" on Wallis.

This is one more scene from trip to Washington State earlier this year.
little dirt road just off the highway bordering with beautiful hay field
full of brewing rolls. Naturally we had to stop. Hay rolls
have this strange influence on me - I never get enough of those.

"Fireweed", pastel.

"Fireweed", 6 x 6" Pastel on Wallis.

This is #3 in my 6x6 pastel series. It was beautiful morning, when Jim and I went to see
Despetion Pass park in Washington and stopped at Rosario Beach.
Fog and light were creating amazing effects over land and water and I knew right away -
I will be painting it. "Fireweed" is the first of Rosario Beach paintings.
And below - reference photo of my inspiration and few others from the same place.. Enjoy!

"Sweet Pea", 6x6, Pastel on Wallis.

"Sweet Pea" is my #2 in small 6x6 pastel series. When Jim and I were
visiting Mount Rainier National Park just about month ago,
I found this little lake right on our way from hotel to National park.
It was as pretty, us it gets and all covered with pink blooms of sweet pea.
I had to stop by, enjoy and take many photos. Had to paint it too.

"Evening at the Lake"

"Evening at the Lake"
6 x 6", Pastel on mounted Wallis paper.

This painting is up for bid on DPW auction:

At beginning of this year I started working with small 6x6 Flemish-style
oil paintings. I want to finish the rest of this year by doing
several paintings of the same format in pastels.
"Evening at the Lake" is #1 in those "mini-pastel" series.
I painted one of my very familiar and favorite local spots -
Wildwood lake, several paintings of which I have done before.
This small work has watercolor underpainting and finished
with some of my favorite pastels and pastel pencils.
More to follow.
