Painting is starting getting more and more finished look... Still - it is not finished and I need time for it to dry in between from one glaze to another... I think after all it is just going to work out, but we better wait with any conclusions, till it is done.
PS. There is a one thing I dod not like about this painting at all - time when I need to take a good picture of it and all I'm getting - whole bunch of reflections.  :-(

New photoshoots of Orchids...

Those are Cymbidium orchids from my personal collection. They live in my grooming room, what  has the most windows in the house. I like to have plenty of light and they do too. I'm pretty sure this will be another subject for another painting and very much looking forward to it, but meanwhile I have to finish what i already started with oils and pastels. Perhaps tonight I'll be back to my painting.

I almost finished with first layer of pastels and almost ready for work with solvent.

I'm pretty happy with this work so far, but tomorrow is another day... 

More likely this painting will be finished till the end of month and will be a part of another floral show 

at "2-nd Floor Gallery" 

what will be running from the end of April to the end of May .

How You can see, I worked some more on my Orchids and it started getting some sort of finished look, even it not even close to be finished. Today i started integration into this painting two more colors - one more tint of red and some blue... So far so good. I did nothing yet with my light areas, it is still gray scale with no color. I think flowers will be the last part I'm working on. Best for the last!

This is what I found in my mail box just yesterday. 

What can I say?... Nice! I always had a good feeling about my painting "Iris Garden"and was hoping that one day it will be show, where this my work will earn its recognition. Not because it is better then others, but just because it is simply  beautiful work. And at my opinion beauty  - this is what art should be about. Brining light to the human's soul, making us better, creating some mysterious link between the Sky and the Earth... This is how I see purpose of any good art work. If this is how painting makes me feel - I know it was successful painting.

Just some more work what i did today. Mostly leaves and also some background. I'm slightly disappointed with the fact that my order for an oil paint what finally arrived didn't have the crimson of right color what i need for my ruby bowel... I guess I have to continue my quest for acceptable ruby-red paint and so far I'm still looking, work on this painting. What is not such a bad idea after all... But i still need my paint!

Longwood Garden's Orchids. Oil Pastel WIP.

While I let my oil  painting to sit around and dry, this is another project. Framed size of painting going to be 20 x 16", but painting is an only 14 x 11'. I'm going to do several floral works after out visit at Longwood Gardens earlier this spring. This is a photo what I'm going to use for my first reference.

 It was significantly modified from it's original version and I'm pretty happy with it now.

 It took me about two evening to work on my drawing and then I transfered it to the board. Now, starting from the top, I'm carefully erasing outlined of my drawing and filling it up with color using some watercolor pencils. It is exactly the same process i used when i painted "Iris Garden". After I'll be done with pencils, I'm going to turn drawing into watercolor underpainting, because it works much better as underpainting for Oil Pastels compare to pencils. When it will be done the most fun part will be ready to start.  I'm not sure how much time it would take to accomplish - for the simple reason, I have more then one painting in progress and I'm giving my priority to Oil painting first. So all depends. Mean while, this one is progressing .

"Orchids in Ruby Glass" Oil 12 x 12" WIP.

I didn't paint mush lately, because was too busy with other things... and today it is a perfect day to paint in - weather is miserable and I simply do not feel like emerging to the house-work. Therefore I paint and maybe will even have something accomplished. Still working just with two color, what are no colors, but value scale. It is getting more interesting. I just have to keep in mind I decided to stay away of Oil Pastels this time... I have another orchid painting for Oil pastels in my mind... gorgeous idea (hopefully will be gorgeous painting too!). But with 3 started painting I better have something finished first before trying out anything new... even if it is gorgeous.
