"Walk through the dunes", pastel.

"Walk through the dunes"
9 x 12" on Multimedia panel.

This painting brings back my memories of beautiful pink Dunes of Idaho.
Places where eye can wander without stopping on anything related to human civilization.
So much of space, so much of poetry.
One day I hope to be back there to see my friends
and all that incredible  humble beauty what is called "desert"

"Sequoia Borealis", 14 x 11",
Pastel on Wallis Belgium Mist.

My latest pastel work on toned sanded paper.
Painted in remembrance of our trip to West Coast last summer.
I owe name of this painting to Irina.
Originally I was going to call it "Cathedral Light". But idea is the same.
Deep forest. Majestic trees. Light from above. Enjoy!

Timeless, pastel.

"Timeless" 9 x 12" Pastel on U-art 400.

I pulled out some pictures from our Wyoming trip
and did this small study. It was all about rocks and overlay of grasses
and absence of anything what will give any idea
on what year, century or even country it is...
Peaceful. You can suppose Earth just was born and doesn't know people yet.

"End of Glorious Day", Pastel

"End of Glorious Day", Pastel
11 x 14" on Pastelbord.

This is one of my latests yet - early works. One more painting what I started a while ago
(almost 3 years), hated much about it and finally decided to do some restoration and repaint
all I do not like. Therefore... I left mostly untouched my keep part (what was a sky)
and scratched  foreground  and some mid-ground off with bristle brush.
What You see here is completely new work with elements of old one...
Not the easiest way to do things, but I hope at the end it was worth it.
I like it much better now.
This is also my very first painting I finished on my new studio easel.
I got that one used from one of my horse-loving friends and promised to her
to put it in good use... I love it.

... and just to compare - original photo of the same art work,
how it used to look like few years ago...

"Last Light", pastel.

"Last Light", 8 x 10" on Wallis Belgium Mist.

One more of my small studies on gray Wallis paper.
I did this subject a while ago on different support
and now wanted to give some new 'twist" to it.
Working on darker surface has tendency to affect choice of colors
and make painting more strong and moody (at my case anyway),
what this one clearly is compare to early version
I did two years ago on white paper.
I really enjoyed working on all those blades of grass
and nuances of purple threading this painting together...
Hope You like it too!

"Coastal Poppies" 6 x 6" Pastel.

And one more in 6 x 6" pastel series... another California-related piece.
Possibility - this one will be shown at West Coast, but it is too arly to talk about it yet.
More are coming soon.

Mount Rainier meadows, pastel in progress.

Just started another small pastel painting after our summer trip to Washington State.
This work will be done on mounted Belgium Mist Wallis paper
what is naturally toned to warm-gray color. So far I'm done with my pencil sketch
and watercolor underpainting. It is ready for pastel, but so far it is anything, BUT
pastel. It is going to be exiting little painting. can not wait to get back to it tonight!

Tetons in Oil Pastel.

"Tetons Magic" 12 x 16" Oil Pastel.

Started this one this spring... One of my somewhat bigger pieces,
mixed Oil pastels on Ampersand Hardbord. I used two different primers,
solvent work and direct application.
It is still in progress, but getting there...

Tetons Magic. Miniature pastel.

"Tetons Magic"
4x4" Pastel on board.

One of my "to-be-miniature-show-entries" for this fall.
Painted after our 2011 trip to Wyoming. Grand Tetons are behind of my back,
I'm facing nice quiet piece of Wet Lands. Love it too.
This is not the first painting of this spot I did and I'm pretty sure - not last one either.
More to come.

Bufalo study. Oil.

"Legend of Yellowstone."
8 x 10"  Oil on panel.

On our way from Yellowstone to Teton National Park we got to met huge herd of buffalo. Crowds of  magnificent animals were roaming across of the valley, across of the highway and didn't care a bit about us, humans around and any of tour transportation needs. Traffic  had to stop for a while... except for bison traffic!.. Even we lost some time and returned to Jackson very late, I got hundreds and hundreds of pictures of those hundreds and hundreds of buffalo. It was amazing experience what I hope will result in several future paintings. This is just first small study I did the other day. Oil sticks and oil with Liquin on panel.

Pronghorn Antelope study. Oil on panel.

"Pronghorn Antelope study."
8 x 10"  Oil on panel.

Pronghorn Antelopes are just too cute to ignore them!... During our trip to the West we saw those little guys just about everywhere and I'm afraid I gave my husband a reason to think that I'm sort of obsessed with taking of numerous pictures of those creatures!..
Honestly, I just finding them very curious to observe and very good subject to paint.
But I didn't paint any.. till now. This is just a little study, but I'm sure I'll be working on painting(s)
of group of those beautiful animals and with some more picturesque background that just a some dry grass here and there.
I did a quick sketch with a pastel pencil on my canvas and Finished it with oils. Here he is - Mr. Pronghorn !..
