"Street Corner", Pastel

"Street Corner"
12 x 16"
Pastel with WC on multimedia pastel panel.

Another studio work depicting beautiful and bright San Miguel De Allende.
This is the place new with the central square (Le Jardin).
I did some street sketching there, but wanted to have it as bigger piece
done in studio. So with all my sketches and some photos I took
here is result. I had to edit many things out - as a traffic, crowds etc
and make this piece more personal and calm. For me it is about light
and color and not so much about people and action.. however I added a single figure
of man to give this work even more interest.
He is a part of this town and carry its colors, but what do we know about him?..
What he is waiting for?.. What he is looking at?..
Maybe he lives there, but maybe he is another traveler, as myself, who is here
only for the moment of time enjoying and observing and being part of it?..
Regardless... this is finished. And this is my biggest up to date painting is soft pastels.

"Where The Grass is Greener..." Pastel.

"Where The Grass is Greener..."
9 x 12", Pastel with WC on Multimedia panel.

This May I'll be painting with group of Pastel Artists
in Cape Cod... Can not wait.... It should be gorgeous!...
Mean while trying to get even more familiar with the subject...
I love painting marshes... simple - yet - so beautiful.
So here is one more... actual place outside of Plymouth, MA.
That was a little park what I had opportunity to explore
all by myself in 2014... I wish I would have more time... but
perhaps this year it will be possible. We will see.

...and more pastels!...

Posting two more of my latest works... result of playing with my new Roche pastels.
One above is another version of Marsh at Teton National park (I did
that scene before, some of You may remember it),
one below is a scene from our trip to Mexico last month...
One is on home=made ground, the other one on U-art.
Mostly combination of Roche and Gearalt pastels... hard not to love both brands!
Had few days of brake, feels like it will be a good time to start new painting...

Bell Tower, Pastel.

"Bell Tower", 12 x 9" Pastel over wc.
Santuario De Jesús Nazareno de Atotonilco

Another peaceful scene from around of San Miguel.
So much light there... and so much history!
I probably have enough material to keep me busy
for several months, even I decide to paint a painting a day...
Got to try my beautiful new pastels  on this one too...
Crime to have those... or not to have, if You in love with pastels.
Here is my newly purchased box of Roche,
little treasure appropriate for paintings like this...
 for something very special...

Oh!.. Box is not full!... I probably need to fix that!

"At the Dawn", Pastel.

"At the Dawn", 9 x 12",
Pastel on Multimedia panel, WC underpainting

Latest work on Multimedia artboard.
I guess I'm starting to like this surface on many ways.
What is good, I still have more of it.
This was a scene at Washington State,
where we used to work on location about two years ago...
This time I opted for more strong colors and changed composition.
