More progress with those poppies!... Silk painting.

Last night I steamed my poppies, what set colors in
and now I have permanent underpainting.
I leaf along background and treated flowers with
flow-stopping agent. As soon it dried, I finished all details.
You can see the difference in blocked in side (on the right) vs
finished one (on the left). After second side will be finished,
this piece will be steamed one more time and my work with it will be done...
Probably will take me two more days. Stay tuned!

Silk Poppies in progress.

Another update on my silk scarf with poppies.
Now it is all blocked in and ready for steaming.
I'm going to do second touch-up after that,
but mean while... keeping my fingers crossed
that steam will do good job...
More updates will be coming in a day or two.

"Reflections of Spring"

"Reflections of Spring", 8 x 10",
Pastel on mounted U-art

Back to something smaller. One day project.
Spring Marshes, painted from photo I took during my last trip to MA
earlier in May. We drove by this place to get to our friend's house
and I knew when I saw it - this scene will make good subject for my painting.
I may just do more then one, but so far I painted this little piece.

"Afterglow", Pastel.

"Afterglow", 18 x 24" Pastel over Oil Stain, U-art 400 2015.

This summer I'm planning to play with few bigger pieces
what will be painted after smaller studies I did (or going to do) prior that.
"Afterglow" is the first one of this kind. It is painted after "Marsh Glow" 8 x 10" study
what I did last year... That study was sold right after it was painted.

In those two works I utilized two different forms of underpainting.
"Marsh Glow" was painted on U-art stained with warm sepia tones
(fluid acrylic) and afterglow was done on much more strong
reddish/brown undertones of Oil. I also changed composition a bit.

"Marsh Glow", 8 x 10", Pastel 2014.

Both works have its own merits, but the most important part is -
I'm satisfied with how this new project  going for me and looking forward
to start another piece sometime soon.... And let see what will happen.

More silks in progress.

This week I'm working on two silk pieces at once.
One is actually sold already, even it is not yet finished.
Those are the same design I used before, but with some modifications.

I'm posting a fragment of one of those works. Tomorrow it is going to steamer,
as well as second piece, what is almost done.
Keeping my fingers crossed on both... hope they turn out beautifully!

"Evening Vista", pastel.

"Evening Vista", 11 x 14"
Pastel over Oil stain on Wallis paper.

My latest painting finished after our trip to Cape Cod National Seashore area.
This is a view from Fort Hill, late spring, right before sunset.

"Light Swept", Pastel.

"Light Swept", 16 x 20" Pastel on Pastelbord.

Another moment of Cape Cod dunes. End of day, sun goes down,
light changing to very warm, but still - it is so bright, one needs  sunglasses
to stay out there on a beach and not be blinded by it....
Biggest size of pastel painting I'm done to this date... Enjoy!
