"Pas de trois", Oil Pastel, WIP.

 "Pas de trois" , 10 x 8", Oil Pastel.
Mounted U-art 280.

I did this painting free-handed, no precise drawing whatsoever in
Caran D'Ache Supracolor pencils.

I worked by sections turning pencil drawing into watercolor wash.

Above - finished underpainting with some hint of  Oil Pastel.

Above - finished Oil Pastel blocking.

And finished painting of course.
A bit different for me - I had plenty of fun with background
on this one and usually background is the part I mostly neglect.

"Corn Shocks", pastel.

"Corn Shocks", pastel, 8x10"

Latest small pastel study of corn field.
Can not do much with the fact I always adore those stacks of corn
and always wanted to paint those... Friend of mine finally provided me
with great photo I used for this small painting as a reference...
Thanks, Karen, it was great! I'm glad You like what I did here...

Bridge study, pastel.

"Bridge Study", Pastel, 6x9"
Multimedia Artboard, primer.

You can clearly see - I'm working a lot with pastels lately..
This is just quick study for bigger painting I did yesterday evening.
Multimedia Artboard totally re-primed with home-made pastel ground.
(I'm finally starting to get satisfactory results with my own primers,
what makes me pretty happy.)
Looking forward to paint bigger, more sophisticated version of it.

"Invitation", pastel study.

"Invitation"
9x6" Pastel study on panel

Color study of boardwalk in Wildwood park.
Multimedia artbord pastel panel re-primed with my
homemade pastel ground. I love durability of those boards
as they come from the factory, but not very happy with
its ability to hold enough pastel layers.
This is by far my best attempt
to do something on those panels up to date.

"Where the Nymphs Dancing", Pastel.

"Where the Nymphs Dancing"
8 x 8", Pastel on panel.

Latest pastel painting what is still on my easel, but I called it finished.
The same very scene I did a bit earlier in 6x6" format.
This work was painted on Multimedia pastel panel,
however I completely refinished it with my own primer.
I like those panels for their light weight and total durability,
but finish doesn't entirely meet my demand to pastel surface.
My own primer allowed me to apply more layers of pastel,
and this was entirely what I needed...
Now I'm ready to move to my next painting.

Above: "Nymphs" in progress.

News on "Constellation".

I was informed last week that my painting"Constellation" (oil)
will be included at Richeson-75 "Still Life and Florals 2014"
hard-covered book among other meritorious entries.
It didn't make it in a show this time, but was chosen for publishing.

"Sénanque Abbey", Pastel Étude.

"Sénanque Abbey", about 6x8"
Pastel on primed watercolor paper.
Self-made ground.

One more Étude on my home-made pastel ground applied over
Sennelier Academic watercolor paper.
I still continue playing with those grounds... more to come!
